Meet the creator:
Shushan Arora
PrepShield was created by Shushan Arora, a freshman at Bolingbrook High School passionate about using technology to solve real-world problems. With a strong background in computer science and emergency preparedness, Shushan developed Prepshield to provide individuals and communities with a reliable, easy-to-use platform for navigating natural disasters. The inspiration for Prepshield came from a personal experience—after witnessing a devastating tornado in his area that left people injured and displaced, he realized that many individuals lacked accessible, well-structured emergency plans. This sparked his mission to build a tool that could help people prepare for disasters before they happen and respond effectively when they do.
His work in technology
has earned him national recognition, including winning the Congressional App Challenge as the winner for Illinois’ 11th District. This achievement showcased his ability to create innovative solutions that address real-world problems, and it provided him with the opportunity to present his work to policymakers in Washington, DC. Through this experience, he gained a deeper understanding of how technology can shape public safety and emergency response efforts, further reinforcing his commitment to expanding Prepshield’s impact.
